Crossley Carpets is born.

In partnership with Robert Abbot and Francis Ellerton, Martha and John Crossley take a 20-year lease on a small mill at Dean Clough in Halifax.  John oversees the worsted spinning and dyeing, Martha the shallons and plain back weaving.
